Your teacher and guide
Alex Forster is an audiovisual adventurer who creates rich, emotive soundscapes that cross boundaries and fuse traditional acoustic with progressive electronic styles.
He has collaborated with artists from Radiohead, Pink Floyd and 1 Giant Leap and worked for organisations such as the BBC, Oxfam and the Sonar Festival.
Alex has been teaching for over ten years and enjoys tailoring his training to specific students rather than relying on a generic syllabus or script. Each student will receive one to one teaching as well as group learning, so individual strengths can be nurtured and weaknesses overcome.
Alex’s studio experience began at London’s Abbey Rd and Miloco Studios. He set up his own commercial studio in Barcelona, then worked at The Chapel Studios in London, and has continued to record and produce around the world, in European mountains, African beaches, Indian retreats and Middle Eastern deserts.
Alex’s live set ranges from meditative soundscapes to ecstatic dance-floor grooves and he has captivated audiences on international stages, including London, Ibiza, Moscow, Barcelona, Berlin and Goa.
Alex’s passion for music production began in the mid 90s, with four track tape recorders and guitar effects. Since the arrival of computers in music he has delved into most of the digital audio workstations, working for many years with Pro tools, Cubase and Logic, before happily settling with Ableton Live, an immensely powerful production and performance tool that can be programmed and tweaked to your personal needs. He looks forward to sharing his passion and skills with you.
